A faraway phone call

This morning I awoke to the ringing of my cell phone.

I was from Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, China

of Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities

in the Girls Dormitory,

on the 3rd floor,

at nearly 10pm at night.

It was my dear friend and student "Rita" Liu Si Wei calling me on Skype in her dorm room. Her five roommates were giggling in the background listening to me talk on speaker phone. We talked about how difficult school is for them now that they are juniors, and how their new Foreign teacher taught them "Row Row Row Your Boat" and how they already knew it because I taught it to them, and we talked about boyfriends: new and old, about new roommates, and new motorscooters, and new looks: Rachel is sexy now! Rita exclaimed.

It was absolutely wonderful to giggle and talk with my dear Chinese students.
