Dogs Lost and Found

Sunday I went hiking with a friend. He brought his dog Charlie, and I brought Nina. The unbelievably horrible happened when Charlie disappeared on our way down the mountain. Who knows what he smelled and chased, or what happened to him, but my friend called him for several hours as we back-tracked, searched and made our way down the mountain. We hoped he would be waiting for us at the truck, but he was not. We searched until dark, and then my friend came back later that night with a tarp and a sleeping bag to spend the night in his truck just in case Charlie made his way down in the night. It was terrible thinking of Charlie (a very friendly and capable German Shepard mix) making it all night alone in Cedar Crest--the east side of the mountain which has bears, cougars and coyotes. Charlie made it all night alone, and found his way down to the trail head where he was waiting in the morning.

I wish Charlie could tell us what happened!

Lost & Thankfully Found.

Today, I went home for lunch and Nina spotted a sad looking male pug in the front yard. He know sits on the carpet at my feet as I type this. He has infections in both of his ears, and is pretty terrified of men. He's adorably cute and has the face of a boxer, and I'm hoping to find someone I know who will adopt him so that I can still see him from time to time.

Here he is:
